The Second Edition of Guía de Isora’s Documentary Projects


One of the main goals of the Guía de Isora International Documentary Film Festival, MiradasDoc, is to disseminate and promote documentaries about social issues.

With the aim of encouraging and promoting documentary filmmaking among the inhabitants of Guía de Isora, MiradasDoc hereby calls upon neighborhood associations and groups to participate in the 2nd edition of IsoraDoc, Guía de Isora’s Documentary Projects contest, in accordance with the following terms:

1.Participation
Any association or groups from the municipal district of Guía de Isora that satisfies the requirements outlined in these terms may take part in the competition. The projects presented must take a documentary approach to social, cultural, historic, ethnographic or contemporary processes as they relate to the town of Guía de Isora or to its inhabitants.


2. Projects
The projects presented must be accompanied by the following documentation:

  • Name of the group or association, as well as the name of the person registering the group in the competition.
  • Group’s or association’s background.
  • A 5-page maximum synopsis expressing the main idea behind the documentary the group wishes to make.

3. Registration
Any group that would like to participate in IsoraDoc’s selection process must formalize registration at the Guía de Isora Town Council’s Cultural Department, located at Calle La Vera, nº 5, in Guía de Isora. Registration is free and the deadline is October 31st 2008.

4. Selection and jury
The work presented will be studied by a jury, made up of media industry professionals and their decision will be final.

5. Prizes

MiradasDoc, Guía de Isora’s International Documentary Film Festival, will award the following prizes: IsoraDoc’08 Prize, which consists of making and producing the prize-winning documentary.

To this end, media professionals will work with the prize-winning group on the various processes of documentary production: scripting, shooting and post-production, and the project will be carried using professional equipment and personnel.

  
6. Dissemination
The finished documentary will be screened at the MiradasDoc’09 festival.

The group or association will be provided with DVD copies of the film so that they may project it at their own cultural activities.

The Guía de Isora Town Council shall be the sole proprietor of all rights to the documentary.

7. Acceptance of the Terms
Presenting the work implies acceptance of these terms and of any decisions the Organization or Jury may make. Any matter not contemplated in these term will be resolved by the institution organizing the competition.
