Today it is enough to push a button on any gadget to know the weather forecast for tomorrow. But behind this simple action, people are working hard in the snow-covered waters of the northern seas, in the permafrost. Ivan Tverdovsky, a famous Russian documentary filmmaker, shows the audience who really “makes the weather” and how they do it.

Ivan Tverdovsky was born on February 26 in 1961 in the city of Schelkovo. He graduated from the Moscow Aviation Institute (1985). Since 1988, he has been a video engineer in the company Videofilm. Since 1994, he has been a picture editor at RCSDF (Russian studio of documentaries). In 2001, he founded the studio of non-fiction films, Tochka zreniya. Since then, he has worked as a documentary director and has filmed more than 30 non-fictional movies which have received awards at national and international film festivals. In 2008, he made his debut in fiction films as the production director of What happened in M city.
