Carabalí is an exiled Afro-Colombian leader. After receiving death threats from paramilitary groups in his region, he leaves his community to protect his life. Far away, alone, as a refugee and in exile, he doubts whether the struggle was worth it.

Medhin Tewolde Serrano (1981, Mexican-Eritrean). Director of the feature film “Negra” (2020), winner of Best Mexican Documentary Feature at the Monterrey International Film Festival, Honourable Mention at the José Rovirosa Award of the Filmoteca UNAM, winner of the LOLA Award at the Philadelphia Latino Film Festival and the Audience Award at the Chicago Latino Film Festival. He is currently in the post-production stage of the short fiction film “Nyanga”, and in the development stage of the feature documentary “Carabalí”.
