For Georgina, an indigenous transgender woman, life in the desert is lonely and cruel. In her small village, no one understands who she is.
MÓNICA TABOADA-TAPIA studied Anthropology at the University of Los Andes and filmmaking at La Nacional. She directed Fidel, an award-winning short film that has been screed at a number of festivals around the world, and Two Spirit, which had its world premiere at IDFA 2021. She produced Causas Elevadas for Señal Colombia and worked as showrunner for the serie El Placer de Escaparse del Mundo. She is currently working on three feature films: Alma del Desierto, Luchadores de La Villa and Mi vida, mi cuerpo, all with the support of FDC Proimágenes and MinCultura. Her projects have participated in Tribeca Film Institute Network, MiradasDoc, Torino Film Lab, DocsMX, ChileDoc, Talents Buenos Aires, DocMontevideo, Docs SP Brasil, DocsBarcelona, The New York Times Op-Docs, Pulitzer Center and Tribeca Film Institute International Pitch.
