At the age of 40, the filmmaker JV is plunged into a deep existential crisis, on a physical, mental, and spiritual level. Trying to find answers to his chaotic existence, he searches through his personal film archives, with which he has portrayed during the last twenty years how love is born, grows, reproduces, and dies. Without intending to, he begins an inner journey that will take him to unexplored territories of his life as a couple, his fatherhood and himself. He thinks of himself as a lucky guy. His son did not change his life but destroyed it; and the girl of his dreams finished him off twice. A once-in-a-lifetime chance to start again. It’s that straightforward and easy. This is sometimes what love’s about. “This film isn’t an autobiography. At any rate, it is autofiction. I record what is happening around me to try to ensnare life, because I feel it is getting away. I capture my fantasies, my fears, my nightmares…”

JOSÉ VÍCTOR FUENTES was born in 1973 in the Canary Island, near the phantom isle of San Borondón. After completing his film studies at schools in Madrid and at the New York Film Academy, he returned to home shores in 2002 and set up the Festivalito de La Palma. He has shot various shorts and three full-length guerilla films: 90 MINUTOS & I LOVE YOU (2011), a collective film, written online and shot in a single long take in Brooklyn; LA LUZ DE MAFASCA (2012), a fantastical thriller, and the diptych 11211 (2013-2014). Co-founder of the Chukumi Studio audiovisual production company and founding member of the Clúster Audiovisual de Canarias.  In 2018 he was awarded the Best Pitch Prize at MiradasDoc for a project that was eventually to become A VECES EL AMOR.
