While the largest power-plant in Africa is being built on the Congo River, Kinshasa is in darkness and people struggle for access to light.

Born in 1990, Nelson Makengo lives and works in Kinshasa. His latest film, “Up at Night”, won the “Best Short Documentary Award IDFA 2019”, Prix Dérives FIFF Namur 2020. « E’ville » won the “Sharjah Art Foundation Prize residency Award” at the Video Brasil Biennial 2019. He is currently developing his first feature-length documentary “Rising Up at Night”, winner of the “Brouillon d’un rêve” award and selected at IDFACADEMY, Berlinale Talents and Durban Film Mart.
