In my father’s house tells the story of a Moroccan-Belgian family seen through my eyes, my camera as the oldest daughter trying to find answers on the trauma’s of my past. It’s an odyssey of a daughter marked by exile evoked through confession, pain, separation, grief, and joy.
Rachida El Garani. Rachida El Garani went to film school at age 36 in 2011. She studied Audiovisual Arts at the filmschool RITCS (Royal Institute for Theater, Cinema and Sound) in Brussels. During her studies, Rachida directed various narrative short films, experimental and documentaries, with socially relevant themes on gender, migration, human rights, and diversity. In June 2015, she received her master’s degree in Audiovisual Arts with great distinction for her documentary film Into Darkness. This film was selected in world prémière at IDFA Film Festival in two categories: “Best Student Documentary” and “Kids & Docs”. Into Darkness was broadcast at Al Jazeera English (Witness program), on Ita- the lian-Swiss Television channel RSI and on Belgian Television CANVA.
