DEBUT wip, is a laboratory for documentary films at an advanced stage of editing, either the first or second film of an Ibero-American director. This laboratory was being held in Miradasdoc.
The attendance of the directing and editing team of the films shortlisted will lead to an enriching process among the projects, based on the analysis this laboratory’s tutor – Manuel Muñoz Rivas – perform on each of these.
MANUEL MUÑOZ RIVAS
After graduating in Information Sciences at the University of Seville, he relocated to Cuba, here he enrolled in the EICTV, the International School and TV and Film in San Antonio de los Baños, from which he graduated in 2004 after specialising in Editing.
Since then, he has co-written and/or edited films such as Blanco en Blanco (2019), This film is about me (2019), Derechos del hombre (2018), Dead Slow Ahead (2015), Slimane (2013), Arraianos (2012), Ocaso (2010), which have been presented and on occasions awarded at leading festivals such as Venice, Locarno, Rotterdam and Toronto, and directed the feature-length El mar mira de lejos, which premièred at the Berlinale in 2017. He alternates his activities as a filmmaker with teaching, holding workshops from 2010 at locations such as EICTV (Cuba), ESCAC (Barcelona), LENS (Madrid), Altos de Chavón (Dominican Republic).
