BINNI DXHZAA – BLOSSOM OF ZAPOTEC

Mónica didn’t learn the Zapotec language because of the shame she felt, because she was discriminated. But that seed has always remained in her heart, and now she begins a learning journey alongside the San Germán family to see if it’s possible to recover a language that was denied to her.

Mónica Martínez Ruiz. Actress, Filmmaker, teacher and acting coach, originally from the Sierra Sur of Oaxaca, graduated from the National School of Theater Art. Winner of three Ariel Awards: Best Actress for A Police Film by Alonso Ruizpalacos / Leap Year by Michael Rowe, as well as Best Female Co-Acting for the film Asfixia by Kenya Márquez.
