Nicolás Baksht Somonte (1995) is a Mexican-Spanish film-maker based in Mexico City. A former FONCA Young Creators fellow, specialising in video. Nicolás has collaborated on and hosted workshops for the Festival Internacional de Cine Morelia by IMCINE (the Mexican Film Institute). Nicolás’s films have been selected and recognised with awards, mentions and participation in national and international festivals like Docs. Mx, Cinélatino Rencontres de Toulouse, Major Docs, Catapulta FICUNAM, Guadalajara Talents, Bolivia Lab, Ultracinema, ASVOFF, Docs Valencia and MIC Istmo, to name a few. Nicolás’s work also covers disciplines such as dance, video installation, performance, photography, film and plastic arts, with exhibitions at cultural centres like the Complejo Cultural Los Pinos, Centro de Cultura Digital, Centro Fotográfico Álvarez Bravo and Centro Cultural España Mx.
