Dr Rota, a 78-year-old businessman, scientist and writer, is full of conflicts and dreams of fame. He overcomes obstacles to publish his book and surround himself with people, seeking recognition. After losing almost all contact with the world, he tries to save his legacy and combat his loneliness. This portrait explores the contradictions we come across in life and brings us closer to the man who always played his part.

ORISEL CASTRO born on 7th of June 1984. Studied editing and directing at the University of Arts, Havana and the International Film School in San Antonio de los Baños in Cuba. Holds a Master in Visual Anthropology and Anthropological Documentary of FLACSO, Ecuador. Forms part of the group Cactus & Hedgehog together with York Neudel that produces documentaries and animation in Stop-Motion technique. Works as a member of the selection committee of the EDOC festival in Ecuador and head of programming of the International Film Festival of Quito (FICQ). She is professor at UDLA university in Quito.


YORK NEUDEL, born in Wittenberg, Germany. DoP, filmmaker. Worked as a gaffer and Director of Photography for German and Cuban Fiction films. Works for documentaries in Ecuador together with Orisel Castro in the group Cactus & Hedgehog. Holds a Master in Visual anthropology and Anthropological Documentaries in FLACSO, Ecuador. Studied Cinematography in Germany and Cuba. Head of Programming of the EDOC Festival in Ecuador. Professor of Cinematography at UDLA University Quito.
